Romney, Ryan - Talking Points....
Romney, Ryan and their surrogates are all – ‘talking
points, rhetoric, spin, dodge, (repeat)…’ - and have been pretty much all
along. They answer nothing and they explain
nothing, they dodge everything of significance. Romney is a guy who’s father
was a successful Governor of Michigan and ran unsuccessfully for
President. Romney (Mitt) is a guy who
thinks that he looks Presidential, comes from a family which enhances his
presidential ambition, and somewhat entitlement and therefore, he should be President. He ran for the Senate in Massachusetts in the early 90’s and lost,
following that, he ran successfully for Governor and served one term. By most reports by the end of his term, he
was not popular as Governor and likely would not have been re-elected. He ran
for president in 2008, basically his first chance after his term as Governor
and did not get his parties nomination.
He also did not come in second.
Mike Huckabee finished second and John McCain won the parties
nomination. Following this, Romney
immediately began running for the party’s nomination so he’d be ready in
2012. He had 8 opponents in 2012 and all
but one led Romney in the running, until they all eventually washed out; then,
he became pretty much the default candidate.
I think it’s reasonable to consider that he when he started running for
office, first U.S. Senate, then Governor, that he was always intending on
setting himself up as a viable candidate for President. In his debates against his republican
opponents in 2012, he was never much considered the front runner, same in 2008
and maybe even more so in 2012. Yet in each case, the opponents all washed out
for various reasons. Except, remembering
in 2008 he only came in third, behind McCain and Huckabee. If you remember his opponents in each case,
none of them were really all that strong, especially in the 2012 campaign,
where at times he was led by Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick
Santorum, Rick Perry, and all except for Jon Huntsman. Following this, Romney thinks that he is the
best man in the country to be the President of the U.S. I’m curious as to how he’ll do in debates
with Barrack Obama.
